Contract work involving
database programming and network administration/troubleshooting. The database portion
involved Access applications running on a Btrieve
back-end. The network was a hybrid Novell 4.01/Windows NT 4.0 server
configuration, consisting primarily of Win95 workstations.

Hospitality Systems,
Incorporated

Development Engineer. Set up and configuration of new client/server
hardware/software platforms in preparation for deployment to the Restaurant and
Hotel Point-Of-Sale marketplace. The Operating Systems involved were primarily
Windows NT 4.0 and ’95, with a bit of DOS and Netware. Primary focus was to
troubleshoot difficult client/server situations and to get new
hardware/software combinations to interact properly with the Point-Of-Sale
product line. Some travel and field work was required when complications arose
that were not routine in nature.

1994 to 1996
Director - MIS. Responsibilities included
the administration of a LAN/WAN system comprising 40+ PC's over a 6-site
installation. Novell 3.12 was used at Central/Annex location, and Netware Lite
at remote locations. Network connections at the central site were Ethernet 10BaseT -
the adjacent building was connected via a repeater and ThinNet/BNC. Remote sites
were connected via dial-up Modem/MUXs, and access to the network was via REACHOUT
Remote Control software .
Other responsibilities were the
installation/maintenance of ECHO dBase-format Medical software packages that include
Human Services Information Systems, Client Tracking, A/R, Billing, and
Electronic Claims Submission. PARADOX database software was used to further
develop the clinic's DBF format database, and various other software packages
including Quattro Pro were supported. Duties included all training of personnel
and general troubleshooting.
